The Tallest Flowering Tree

The Australian mountain ash tree is the world’s tallest flowering tree. It grows over 300 feet high. The tallest mountain ash tree, at present, is the one that grows 325 feet high in the Styx Valley of Tasmania.
This tall stately mountain ash has tubes filled with water to replace the gallons of water that it loses as vapour from its leaves. The tubes were formerly elongated cells filled with water. As the cells grew, their side walls thickened and the dividing walls between them broke, creating long continuous tubes filled with water.
The mountain ash tree belongs to the eucalyptus family.
